I am starting to like this Edward. And I don't like Richard much. I'm really enjoying this series and the character developments. The bodycount is a little high, somehow I don't mind much. What I like this time is that the antagonists aren't just evil monsters - ok they are evil monsters - but besides that they are or at least appear to be human most of the time and so they can be anyone ...
So far no major character death, not sure if I appreciate that or not.
What's a bit funny is that these books - at least those I am reading now - were written in the 90s and that makes a huge difference in the story sometimes. Back then you had a beeper not a mobile phone. You needed directions to drive to places, you did not know. Sometimes one can even glimpse the fashion of the day - even if Anita apparently prefers to dress in whatever dropped out of the closet and can hide a couple of guns.
I like the author's comments that are in the back of the books. They cast an interesting light on some of the developments.
