bukkat reviewed Logan's Run by William F. Nolan
Kinda crummy

The setup is interesting, but the book never evolves beyond a disjointed, action-packed romp :(

Wow this book is dreadful. I don't know how people are into this. It's not just the fantastical completely unrealistic movements of the characters and their settings. I easily power through that in good literature like "20K Leagues Under the Sea" or even mediocre literature like "The Wreck of the Titan". It doesn't even have to be things like they didn't know better, like in 20K Leagues. It's just a question if it is totally superfluous. In this case it was and it was repeatedly. Over and over. Good god. I wanted to read this because I saw the movie and wanted to see how different they were. The initial description of the book sounded fascinating and it could have been but this was just damn dreadful.
It was a quick read of classic science fiction. Set in a dystopian society in which 21 is old and 22 means death, Logan's run is a simple reflection of the fears of the future. Overall, it was interesting but seemed more like a long- short story with minimal character development, little depth of plot and no real motivation aside from wanting to live.
