If you have more than a passing love of wine this is a great book to read. We take for granted the current wine landscape but it wasn't until the mid-1970s and an event called "The Judgement of Paris" that the modern era of wine began. It wasn't supposed to be a historic event but it was. The book gives in depth and personal back stories to some of the biggest names in the wine industry. Follow Grgich from his childhood to the present day. Learn about the struggles it took to get a winery started or rehabilitating a long neglected one, even for modern day titans of the industry. It is a dry read, but like a good dry wine very enjoyable.
