So, the first couple of chapters are rough. Not as bad as I remember – the boys of Nagatoro between chapters being like "did I go too far?" help a lot – but it's still rough and sucks to see Senpai crying from being bullied.

But it's just the first two chapters. After that things settle into a better routine of teasing and messing up and slowly growing and developing. It's a surprisingly nice romance – I've been reading the individual chapters for years – and once you get past the rocky start it's a really fun read.

Apparently, this is the last volume before the authors go on a hiatus. It's heartbreaking because it doesn't end anywhere near a happy note. The whole series I've known that the world of Saga is cruel and violent. I got the message. After seeing the main characters survive the most horrible situations I was not prepared for this ending. I don't want to believe it. And that's how good this series is. I care about every character. Even the bad ones. Ok, not all the bad ones. Hopefully, we will see the continuation of the story soon!

On the one hand: lots of Ghüs here, always a good thing.

On the other hand... like, every other plot point. Why does this cliffhanger exist? What the fuck.

Review of 'Saga Volume 9' on 'Goodreads'

I just finished reading the series (re-reading the first four books after which I had inexplicably stopped reading way back when)... and I loved every single page. It's beautifully drawn and I just love the characters.

So for this Volume all I have to say is: why? Really? Didn't you do enough of that already? I really didn't need that final page 😭😭😭

As if this series wasn't heartbreaking enough...

To think how going into this volume I was like: oh nice finally a light-hearted break for them. Just enjoying themselves for once. Someone getting closure, getting out of there and finding a happy-end...

😭

For those that don't know, Saga is on hiatus and we have no idea how long we have to wait for the story to continue. Saga volume 9 kept being touted as about fake news and I'm not sure I really got that. It did hint on governments controlling news but I wasn't sure if the story being sold was fake. Maybe I should re-read the whole series for more clarity. Not quite as good as the earlier instalments but the ending, OMG, please don't leave it there! I hope we get much more of Hazel's story in the future.
