Review of 'Death of a New American' on 'Goodreads'

I found this novel was a disappointment, after the first in the series. The middle portions of the tale seemed muddled, lacking direction and/or significant purpose. The characters lacked interest and depth. The last 20% of the book, however, was quite interesting and made great strides in pulling the initial parts "out of the hole". Given the general track of this story, I am undecided on whether to continue reading the series or not.

Review of 'Death of a New American' on 'Goodreads'

I am not normally a fan of 'historical fiction', but this series is really very good. The early 20th century with its labour struggles and the social injustices that fed into them is a fascinating period, and this author weaves in many events and facts that too many Americans have forgotten entirely. At the same time, the main plot is separate from this history and stands on its own.
