A story about a young man leaving Enrique IV's Spain to Africa in search of a unicorn a horn of which was to cure the king. He was accompanied by a monk learning in herbs, by a skilled translator, and by numerous soldiers. He came back to Spain with an illusion he reached his goal, but without his comrades. Spain he came back to eighteen years after leaving it was a different country where nobody was interested in him anymore. With his health broken, his career nonexistent, and his money and comrades gone, he left the horn by Enrique's grave as a final expression of loyalty and went away.
