I enjoyed season 1 of the Netflix series, and burned through these audiobooks over the summer. I was excited to dive into some lore-heavy fantasy. The first two books of the series, containing short stories, were great. But when the series really began with Blood of Elves, it took a sharp nosedive, and in so many different ways. It got worse with each book. This worldbuilding and these characters deserved so much better. This is the first time for me that the books have fallen flat when compared to the screen adaptation. But season 1 really took just the best elements of the books and improved upon them. Maybe they based it more on the games, I don't know. I have much more in the notes but my newfound apathy for this series is going to stop it here.
