Review of 'How to Talk so Little Kids Will Listen' on 'Goodreads'
4 stars
After three months of lockdown with three under fives in the house, it became clear it was time to start going through the parenting books that we'd acquired but never quite had the time to read. This was a great pick to start with as it provides a general framework for empathising with kids and helping resolve the various dramas the crop up through the day.
Each chapter lays out the theory of how to handle a class of situation, including the particular tools or techniques which might be useful, then provides a wealth of anecdotes from the parent groups the authors have run, showing how this might play out.
Currently it feels like the above in this book is most useful with our 4 year old, but I can see how it will help with the younger kids as they become more communicative. I would definitely recommend it to …

Currently it feels like the above in this book is most useful with our 4 year old, but I can see how it will help with the younger kids as they become more communicative. I would definitely recommend it to any other parents who are looking for more civilized techniques to defuse and resolve the constant stream of high stakes incidents that seem to make up your kids lives.
