Ouch!
Neat well done thriller. It reminded me maybe too much of my family.
Good ending, but it could have been a little less rushed.

Eerie, snapshot look of mental illness, Midwestern culture, and murder. Wonderful book that doesn't so much as keep you on the edge of your seat as it does build this persistent feeling of discomfort and disgust. I enjoyed this murder mystery a lot.
Full disclosure, I watched the show before reading this book, so this will be controversial, but I think I liked the show more. I feel like the book did a lot more hand-holding to lead you to the conclusion of who the killer was. Some of the book characters felt less dynamic and nuanced than those in the show. But overall, great read.
