I really enjoyed this story. I look at the life of a few characters during the early years of Hollywood. I didn't think much of the characters, they were a nasty shallow bunch but Tod did grow on me. I also found it difficult to take one of the characters seriously for obvious reasons, his name was Homer Simpson. Hehe
There are two wonderful scenes in the book which are the main reasons this gets a 5* rating.
When Tod is wandering through the movie sets, one second a desert then next a polar scene, eventually ending up in the scenery graveyard, I was transported there by the style of writing. It was very surreal.
The final scenes in the crowds waiting to see movie stars was also well written, a good sign when you can read many pages in no time.

The style of writing reminded me a lot of hunter S Thompson's rum diary.
