On the one hand an absolutely fantastic read. To think about war from the context of memory and forgiveness and the art it engendered is certainly different. The underlying sub-theme about how “minorities” are expected to portray themselves how white people mostly understand them in art and other communication was especially thought provoking.
On the other hand the language and the topics were so long winded and repetitive as to make the mind wander to other things far too often in the middle of paragraphs. Perhaps in his desire to better explain his thinking, Viet resorted to the language of academia?
Either way an important read, which may benefit from an edit to make the writing style less of a challenge
