A great read, full of humor and insight. Initially I approached it with the same anxiety that Choose Your Own Adventure books always gave me in childhood: worrying I’d choose unwisely and miss an important part. After following one thread to the end, I started again and read the pages in order, which worked out so well it felt like perhaps that was the intent all along. Sometimes the book is a bit dazzled with itself, but if there's a life that's more deserving of a dazzled retelling, I don't know of it.

So. Much. Fun.

Whether you're a fan of NPH or Choose Your Own Adventure books, you're likely to find this a ton of fun - unless you're uptight about swearing, gay topics or dirty jokes. I loved it from top to bottom (no pun intended). It's not a heavy duty autobiography, but you get a nice taste for some of the key events in NPH's life - and although the CYOA format means the whole thing is written talking to "You, Neil," it's not distracting.

He tosses in some recipes, card tricks and a crossword puzzle, so there's plenty of distraction to entertain.

I listened to this as an audiobook and although it compromised the CYOA format, it was worth it. Neil's delivery is fantastic.

Highly recommend this as a fun audio escape.

If you read only one "Choose Your Own Autobiography" this year...read the one by that Kardashian brother. If he still hasn't written it, I suppose this one will do.

It's funny, heart-warming, heart-burning, heart-attacking, and then funny again. Plus it has like 4 magic tricks in it (I'm actually serious about that one). It is really great and even includes a thorough ass kicking.

I have to admit that I wouldn't have picked up this book if not for the choose your own adventure shtick, and then I promptly ignored that shtick to read it straight through from cover to cover. Fortunately, it reads just fine that way.

It's a well-written bio with a few card tricks, a couple of drink recipes, and NPH's partner's recipe for fresh pasta with bolognese sauce thrown in just to mix things up.

In the end, not something I'm likely to recommend to anyone not already a fan of NPH, but a decent read.
