I have really liked this series and this author but this book was just horrible. I figured I was alone in this until I saw other reviews on Goodreads. It seems to overwhelming hated for a variety of reasons. Here are mine.
These characters are nice people in the other books. They have suddenly turned hateful and selfish. They get married and then make major decisions for each other without informing the other person. This happens over and over. They never learn to get along and work together.
The other thing that bothered me was the attitudes towards marriage in the book. There is a lot about how marrying in Valentine's family is complicated because Gianluca is gasp divorced and they don't do that in her family. What century is this? Then she goes on about how she has to bond with the ex-wife because divorced people still love each …

Then she goes on about how she has to bond with the ex-wife because divorced people still love each other. Um, no. I'm indifferent to my ex and most of the time forget that he ever existed. The husband's ex calls him regularly and from the vitriol that she screams at him I don't get the impression that her heart is overflowing with love.
