Review of 'The bay of noon' on 'Goodreads'

One of the best books I've read. Hazzard's exploration of time and relationships set within the context of place, her stunning writing, and her evocation of Naples both as a place and as a force, a character almost, in Jenny's development, are brilliant.

Jenny is a young British woman, working for the British military in post WWII Naples. She becomes friends with Giaconda, a Neapolitan woman, and her lover Gianni. Under the mesmerizing spell of the city, these three characters, along with an additional man who works with Jenny, create an entanglement of relationships that each processes in their own way.
