Austen's best and most underrated

If Pride and Prejudice is built on the premise of people changing and admitting they were wrong, then Persuasion is built on the premise that people can perservere and hold fast to love, and find their way back to each other. I think there is ample room for both ideas.

Review of 'Persuasion, Jane Austen' on 'Goodreads'

Not my favorite among Jane Austen novels, although I find that it is sometimes refreshingly direct. But this being Jane Austen it is still far better than most of today's copies. It follows the usual recipe for the most part. The biggest difference is that our couple Anne Elliott and Captain Wentworth had already been engaged 8 years earlier. Except the well-meaning Lady Russell, who is the one with the persuasive skills, broke them up.
