Peeky Kane works in a casino, playing poker when an extra player is needed, has a troubled daughter, and a boyfriend who has even more flaws. When he gets mixed up in a violent robbery, Peeky tries to protect him out of loyalty. Great lead character, good pacing, fine writing ... my only problem was that I couldn't figure out why the police weren't a little busier investigating a multiple homicide. They make an appearance and then go away to have lunch or something. Five star character in a three star plot.
