The Hundred-Year-Old Man Who Climbed Out the Window and Disappeared (Swedish: Hundraåringen som klev ut genom fönstret och försvann), also known as The 100-Year-Old Man Who Climbed Out the Window and Disappeared in the US, is a 2009 comic novel by the Swedish author Jonas Jonasson. The Swedish version was first published on 9 September 2009, and the English version on 12 July 2012. In 2018, a sequel to the book, The Accidental Further Adventures of the Hundred-Year-Old Man, was published.
Już dawno książka nie sprawiła mi tyle przyjemności w czytaniu. Zabawna, intrygująca i ciekawie skonstruowana. Pełna smaczków, jak choćby rozmowa komisarza Aronsona z prawdziwym Szwedem. Ja wiem, że na podobnym pomyśle skonstruowano książkę Forrest Gump, a pewnie jeszcze inne. Ta jednak jest po prostu lepsza.
Fun, silly little romp. Really two novels alternating by chapter: one about the farcical and somewhat improbable adventures experienced by the titular centenarian, the other about the rather more improbable course of his life. Jonasson really just runs wild; after the first few pages you just stop rolling your eyes and go along for the ride. I am in no sense better or wiser for having read this, but I enjoyed some smiles.
