"The very short stories of Diane Williams have been aptly called 'folk tales that hammer like a nail gun,' and these forty new ones are sharper than ever. They are unsettling, yes, frequently revelatory, and more often than not downright funny."--Publisher website.

I'm not the first to say that reading these stories is like showing up late to a dinner party: either something just happened or is about to happen, and you've come in too late to understand the context. It's at once unsettling and fascinating. It doesn't hurt that the writing feels intentionally and artfully constructed, even if it does twist your brain around a bit. Anyway, someone else should read it so we can talk about it, k?
