Netflix might categorize a movie made from Vermilion as Steampunk Horror Gender-bending Fantasy Historical Pulp Fiction. Tanzer writes like she grew up idolizing the greats in this genre, it feels so natural and inevitable and surprising.

I would love to read 12 more in a series.

I actually couldn’t finish this book, which is very rare for me. It started off strong but bogged down badly in the middle.
