I enjoyed this quite a bit! It feels like a mashup of Scandinavian folklore with Time Bandits. Be prepared for some of the darker, bloodier aspects of both of those...
Such a weird book. Also lovely and sad. I think in need time to know what more to say about it.
This book is solidly in the it was okay category. I have a hard time articulating why this book didn't resonate with me when it had all the classic elements of multiverse, fantasy and being a bit out there.
I was waiting for a reveal that this story was an allegory or reaction to the in-world war happening, but even if it was I'm not sure that would have changed my mind.
