Review of 'マッシュル―MASHLE― 1' on 'Goodreads'

A comedic mix of Black Clover and Harry Potter with visible undertones of Dragon Ball Z in the character design; a parody of the three, if you will. The author also seems to be a fan of One (creator of One Punch Man and Mob Psycho 100). Overall, a light read that doesn't take itself too seriously. However, it's missing originality and relies too heavily on deadpan jokes from the main character/the humorously dumbfounded reactions of the supporting characters in response to his show of brute strength.

None

This is honestly my favourite ongoing manga series. A boy with a cream puff for a brain gets forced to go to what is basically Hogwarts, except he has no magical ability and more named muscles than most people have muscles.

It's basically the concept that sufficiently advanced muscles are indistinguishable from magic.

This first volume nails the tone, showing how tense the situation is without letting go of the fact that it's a comedy first and foremost. Mash is always about to be expelled, but he somehow brute forces his way through fights, classes, and even quidditch.

Having read it since publication started in Jump, I'm excited to reread these volumes as they come out. This is a series that sold me on the first chapter and has only gotten better from there.
