A decent overview of the history of islam in middle eastern region and its key figures.
However, it hardly gives any new insight into the geopolitical problems that surround the area today, since it is purely a history book.
If you want a basic overview of the islamic Middle Eastern history, then it is a good book for you.
If you want this book to offer important insight about the geopolitical impact of the area today, it offers almost nothing, besides the point made near the end of the audiobook that the countries in the troublesome areas are very young, since they were formed after World War I or later, and are yet to fully develop.
I only give it 3 stars, because the description of the book made me expect something else out of it, that I would gain new knowledge and perspective about the islamic culture and the …
