technicat reviewed The Nom Wah Cookbook by Wilson Tang
Read this if you go to New York Chinatown (and not the NYT "they cleaned up the place" articles)
5 stars
This cookbook is as much about New York Chinatown as it is about food (although the dim sum looks amazing), interspersed with interviews of restauranteurs, shop owners, and museum curators (on page 151 my grandfather's name is visible in the photo of a memorial wall at the Museum of Chinese in America), many of whom are descendants of early Chinatown business owners who are now keeping the history and traditions alive.
