My Rating: 2.5/5 stars
While not as good as its counter part, the Covenant series, The Return was ok for a first installment in a new spin-off series. I thought it could've been better and I hated how many similarities there were to the original series, more specifically when it came to the romantic stuff. It was like Seth was starting to act like Aiden did when he was falling for Alex except with Josie. It got kind of annoying because I wanted them to have their own little special things instead of reusing stuff that Aiden and Alex did. And so, because they did it just seemed like the book was written like how it would've been if Seth and Alex had been a real item. The book ending was kind of lame. Sweet, but kind of lame. Ok, now that I got all my complaining out of the way.... let me just say that all the Seth POV parts were MUCH appreciated. A side of Seth that's never been seen before was shown in this novel and it was strange, but not bad. While I'm more of an Aiden fan than a Seth fan, I found that it was nice to know more about Seth's background and (finally) what his last name is. Seth in himself was more than enough to make up for the copied Alex and Aiden moments as well as the choppiness of the ending. But, sadly it wasn't enough to give this first book in the Titan series a 4 star rating. I usually love everything I read by Jennifer L. Armentrout, but The Return fell short for me. Hopefully, the sequel will be a better follow-up than its predecessor.
