This second volume absolutely gripped me more than the first. Maybe it was reading it on a rainy day between cleaning and cooking that made it better fit my reading tastes in the moment, but I also felt that the story was progressing faster than I expected. The quick engagement of the main characters felt appropriately paced and diverged from the filler of will they, won't they tropes.
