ilchinealach reviewed The leavetaking. by Peter Weiss
Review of 'The leavetaking.' on 'Goodreads'
3 stars
came into this expecting something very different than what it was, being more familiar with the relentless objectivity of the aesthetics of resistance, new trial, marat / sade than weiss' other prose works. this is more in a thomas bernhard vein i.e., unfolds like a thinly fictionalised autobiographical rant, full of sexual neuroses and childhood traumas. its formally flawless, but the confessional aspects put me off
