It started out slow, as I said, but now I see that there was a lot to build. I am unaccustomed to not being thoroughly sucked into a Dan Abnett novel. The end was well worth it, but the beginning could have been cleaner. One could also say that about the plot of the novel, though, in that it revealed one of the longest cons in the 40k universe. I can't say much more without marking this as a spoiler, so I'll
Just say persevere and read it. It's well worth the time.
