While this is a bit of a departure from what I expected, I thoroughly enjoyed the read.
The main character was wonderfully fleshed out, all secondary characters were believable, the setting was definitely something I could picture (having been much like Grace, a northerner thrusted into learning and adapting to southern social graces, hierarchy and the like), and it was never predictable. It left me thinking "I do hope she continues making books for this."
I will admit, I had a rough start with this book, at first I didn't really like it. But once the main character had her accident, I was immediately intrigued enough to keep reading. As the plot developed, I though I knew, without a doubt, who the antagonist was; and found myself about about 60% done and reformulating my "whodunnit" response for the third or fourth time.

Without going into spoilers, if you are fan of her other works (Wicked Lovely <3 for example) and are looking for a wonderful read, a great twist on Thrillers/Gothic titles, and a departure from her more heavily fantasy/paranormal titles, this is -definitely- something to consider. I went in a skeptic and came out a firm believer; I was truly left hoping/thinking "I do hope that there are more books for this."
