This, and the rest of the Herriot series, passes the ultimate test: books I have turned to (again and again) during the blackest days of beloved friends' or family members' death.
Short stories for a stressed out short attention span.. sweetness but not sickeningly so.. And laugh-out-loud funny even in the worst pits of loneliness and loss.
