disdain for the rich and empty. brands, GQ, unrelenting violence, unreality, misogyny, brands, designer, restaurant, more expensive restaurant, donald trump, brands, hair, cocaine, huey lewis and the news, thinner, bulkier, taller, hatred, hatred, aimless empty prejudice, everything empty even violence

Ultimately successful in its aims as a hatred-induced breakdown of a particular kind of insufferable person but so unbearably gruesome that my honest feelings are mostly just disgust. I appreciate its rage but want nothing to do with the result. This has messed with my dreams on several separate days.

I'm fucking shook, wtf. WTF. I have so many thoughts and feelings about this book that I can hardly sort through them all.

First off, I'm a horror veteran and have consumed some disturbing media. But there were times when even I had trouble continuing with this. I had to ask myself why I kept going when I hated Patrick and what he stood for so much. I always came back to just how well-crafted of a story it is. It really is impressive, and witty, and unlike anything else out there. Not to mention that its themes are so important, and just as relevant now as they were when this was first published, if not more so.

WOW! Amazing book. I have always liked the movie adaptation of this book, but now I realise that it doesn't do justice to just how insane Bateman is.

To me this book feels a bit like a diary, and we get to go on a ride with Bateman as he spirals into insanity.

The murders are the most sickly described I have ever read. Nasty nasty stuff. The murder in the penguin enclosure was one of the shortest in the book but by far the most disturbing.

Certainly not for kids. haha

American Psycho by Bret Easton Ellis was everything like the movie, but in greater detail. If you thought the movie was gruesome then the book will not be for you. I found myself going nuts when I was reading this book; all the references to brand names made me want to go psycho. I guess that was part of the aim. I know most people say the book is always better than the movie but in the case of American Psycho there isn’t much of a difference; the movie got the message across just as effectively as the book.
