Sequel to Hot Head but with a lot smaller scope. Ajay, a young Brazilian man, is kidnapped by apparent alien spacecraft which has manufactured a 'daughter' whom Ajay (regulation hacker as he is, despite seeming to be just another sambadero), guides back to Earth as the City of Rio starts to become sentient. The 'daughter' is an AI construct who, while learning to be human, triggers the emerging sentience of the San Francisco Bay Area. When I say smaller scope I don't mean it's less of a story, just that it concentrates on two characters rather than an entire world as Hot Head did.
