Review of 'Rita Hayworth and Shawshank Redemption' on 'Goodreads'

Like most people, I saw the movie first before reading the book. I wish I had picked up the book first but unfortunately, the book was released years ago when I was born. By that time of course the movie was almost out and I saw the movie almost like 10-12 years ago. I only finished this book now. So, I guess I’m late for the party.
Considering that the movie is one of the most rated and highly recommended movies of all time, if not the greatest movie, the book was still very refreshing and I really loved it and never once felt like stopping reading it.

It took me this long to pick this book and finish it, but honestly, there could not have been a better time for this to happen. In these dark times that I consider myself to be living in, Hope is one of the things that keep me going and this book is set perfectly for not only making the readers believe that there is hope to live but also to inspire and motivate them to keep on moving and living the way you want regardless of the unfortunate circumstance that you are in.
“Remember that hope is a good thing, Red, maybe the best of things, and no good thing ever dies.”
As much as I love Stephen King and his works, I haven’t read much of his works. Mostly because I don’t have a good appetite for Horror stories. Although I must admit that I enjoyed reading “The Shining”, definitely not the horror part of it, but his writing and storytelling gripped me. I couldn’t keep the book down because I wanted to finish it as soon as possible. One reason being a Horror book, I must admit it was making me uncomfortable not to finish it and another reason was the great story itself. But having said all this I am loving “Different Seasons” and more specifically this very book “Rita Hayworth and Shawshank Redemption”. I would love to read more of these kinds of books from SK.
Great read. Loved it!
“Wondering what I should do. But there’s really no question. It always comes down to just two choices. Get busy living or get busy dying.”
