it's not bad but it's overfull, and too much is happening to the main character. He's presented as already very well connected, king, thieves, library. And then he quickly gets even MORE super powers. [return][return]Everyone thinks the best of him, except the people who are either afraid or classist jerks. It comes together to make him terribly flat. [return][return]The world is pretty interesting, but I feel like the other characters are all there to support him entirely (the librarian, the guard) or are not fleshed out enough to have their own motives (the entire rest of the Vigil, the king.)[return][return]I would read something else by the author in the future, but it feels like he wants to jam all his good ideas in at once in case he doesn't get a chance later.
