Have I mentioned that I love the titles of this book series? This one has necromancers who want to put their hands on an old lost book that contains forbidden magic powers, so, lots of zombies. Also, vampires because, why not? Harry Dresden finally gets a job with the White Council and starts getting regular income. So, I hope he is not broke all the time anymore, he deserves it, he's a good guy. Oh, and did I mention zombie dinosaurs?

I always enjoy the Dresden Files books, and the series only gets better with each installment. These are like comfort food for me, so it’s nice to have another one to read now and then. I’ve definitely been taking my sweet time reading them, but they’re also fairly self-contained, so it’s not like I’m getting only part of a story. This installment introduces some new characters and puts Harry on a collision course with the wardens. He also rides a resurrected dinosaur to fight evil wizards, so it’s got a lot going for it.

Compared to the first few books, in this one the stakes seem too inflated and the costs for the characters we get to know - improbably low. Made me remember why everyone got so hyped up about ASOIAF books having dying characters, because nobody we know ever dying becomes a bit unbelievable.
Your foster father was injured. Everyone injured was killed in the hospital.

Oh, no, don't worry about your foster father, he refused to go to the hospital and is fine.

As always, the Dresden Files series does not disappoint. If you liked the previous books, you'll like this this one. And if you haven't read the previous books, start at the beginning (Storm Front)! A fantastic series with a great protagonist in Harry Dresden, wizard-for-hire and trouble-magnet-extraordinaire.
