4 stars

This is a fun history book depicting a typical day in ancient Rome. Instead of chapter numbers, you have hours - "6:30 a.m. - The Master Awakes," "11:10 - Arrival at the Roman Forum," etc. Alberto Angela acts as your guide, leading you on a tour of the city. You learn what the Romans had for breakfast, how they dress, what games they play, how they shop, and so on. This is not a scholarly book - the tone is light, accessible, and easy to understand. If you're interested in the daily life of the ancient Romans, this is a very good place to start.
