An idyllic commune is not so idyllic after all
5 stars
The center of this book is Annabel whose story starts in 1964 during the Mississippi Freedom Summer. What happens there changes the direction of her life and therein lies the story. I found myself rooting for Annabel in spite her flaws, as well as for her daughter Ivy, the focus of the second half of the book. Randy Susan Meyers has done a great deal of research into the time period, which strengthens the gripping narrative. I am recommending this to all my book clubs as there is much to discuss. Highly recommend.
