This would be getting one star if it weren't for the entertainment factor. Sometimes you come across a book so hilariously bad that the silliness of it makes it worth reading on. I've never read any of Reichs' other work, so I can only hope that her adult novels aren't nearly as convoluted as this mess is.

Still, that's not nearly as bad as her racially stereotyped friends (including the Native American with the 'special connection to nature' agh). And let's not forget the Southern and mean girl stereotypes! Add some improbable situations and shaky at best science to the mix and you've got yourself a shallow/entertaining read.
I'm not the right audience for this book, I know, but I feel like whatever Reichs has brought to the table here has been done better in so many other YA books.
