Scott Meyers writing style wins again. I absolutely love these books - they are such feel good stories that I completely enjoy losing myself in the characters and the plot.
This book in particular introduces us to Atlantis and some new/lovable characters.
Easily 5 stars, would recommend to anyone who likes nerdy humor and feel-good stories.
I enjoyed the follow-up just about as much as the first book. The humor can be a bit overstated at times, but that's just the way the books are intended to be, I think. Sometimes it grates on me, but it's not too distracting.
I'll definitely read more of the series.
It was a fun start, but I found myself mentally tuning out in the middle when the discussion of time travel delves DEEPLY into various possible paradoxes and explanations of the current scenario. Once that passed, and the characters continued their jolly adventure, it became fun again.
Time travel is hard to explain in books. Especially fiction which doesn't benefit from illustrations. But I intend to take up the third book despite my misgivings in the middle of this one.
I kept falling asleep - the characters just say so many repetitive things and occasionally it is just too cliche for my taste. On the other hand, it was a great book when I wanted to go to sleep fast! :)
I did finish it because I was curious how it all ended, but it was a bit of a slog.
