The anatomy of story

Very nice overview of the primary structural and thematic elements of narrative. The latter half drags a bit as it gets into more case studies but definitely great reference material to keep around.

I am not a story writer, but I read this book to gain a deeper appreciation of the stories that I read. It was dry at times, but was overall informative. It included lots of examples through references, especially to Tootsie, The Godfather, and Casablanca.
