Romance novels always have to pick their particular bugbears. So in this one we've got racism (not very subtle), and toxic positivity. I thought they were all handled quite well, although maybe I'm not seeing enough in real life, but I thought the picture painted of Celeste was a bit cartoonish. Still, the world really drew me in, and I was rooting for Dee as she encountered actual hardship and made real friends along the way.
The real ones deserve to know, by the way, that this book is unfortunately closed-door.
