An Important Examination of Immigrant Detention Stories

This book is a harrowing accounting of indefensible immigrant detention stories from across US history. While the focus is on these individuals, Minian includes some information on the larger legal context of the time. The chapter that deals with Haitian immigration was the most compelling for me, widening the aperture to demonstrate how Haitian immigrant detention opened the door to using Guantanamo as a legal purgatory in addition to implications for immigration policy more broadly
