reviewed The Trench by Steve Alten

Not as enjoyable as the first, but still a fun read.

2 stars

2.5 rounded down. This reads like a decent B movie. The first one was more interesting to read through because you had a lot of build up and world building and everything. This one was practically straight into the action and everything just wound up feeling rushed. Still going to continue with the series, though.

4 stars

A thoroughly enjoyable B-movie-as-a-novel, including everything that the occasional fan of Seagal or Van Damme might like, and written like the worst of penny dreadfuls. The characters turn out to be charming, though, and I think I'll continue reading books from this series whenever I stumble over them.
