Shares the humorous adventures of the Great Skeeve, a powerful magician, Aahz, his demon partner, and Gleep the dragon in Deva, the crossroads of dimensions.
I read the first four Myth Adventures books while I was in high school and reread them this month. This first book I hadn't gotten through before was a lot of fun. I definitely popped with the cameo of Wendy and Richard Pini as The Woofriders in this weird story set in limbo and full of vampires and werewolves.

Short storyline: Skeeve, Aahz, and associates are just getting started with their new business on Deva. When three thieves escape through a hidden door behind a tapestry in the waiting room, Aahz has to go after them, or risk the whole group being banned from Deva permanently. This door leads to an interesting magic-less dimension where vampires are the norm, and humans are not. It takes all of their brain, brawn, and skill to rescue Aahz, capture the three thieves, and return them to the Deva authorities.
Notes for the reader: In this story, this author takes the emotions of his characters seriously. The characters don’t just race through the story full of action without emotion. The author realized the importance of the reader connecting to the characters by giving us the emotions, and even the reasons behind those sometimes odd emotions for the situation. While the first few times, it is a shock to the system to actually read of a character having an emotion, soon, it just becomes an enhancement to the story. In fact, when the lack of emotions by the main character becomes apparent in a later story, even that is noted by all the characters, until it is resolved.
