Every Last Word: Book Review

5 stars

Samantha McAllister, a junior at her high school, is considered to be just like her popular friends- glamorous and 'normal'. But she isn't. Samantha (or Sam, as she likes to be called) does not consider herself normal because of the secret she hides. For as long as she has known them, Sam has kept her purely obsessional Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD)- which consumer all her thoughts, all the time- from her friends because they would surely not understand her situation. So, when Caroline, her new closest friend, introduces her to a secret poetry group at their school called "Poet's Corner"- where she can freely express herself and learns how to stand up for herself, she's all in! Little does she know that Caroline meant it when she said that it would turn her world upside down..

Every Last Word by Tamara Ireland Stone has definitely been a riveting read for …

This is a book I could not put down. Stone so beautifully wrote of this girl and her struggles - every piece of it was so raw and real, as though the audience was experiencing what Sam was. The whole book so eloquently interwove poetry into this story, it was a wonderful experience and cope for Sam. I was so fortunate to receive this book as an ARC from the publisher in exchange for my honest opinion, and I will be posting a video review shortly, but until then I just had to write a little blurb. This story was a delight and the amount of respect and humility that Stone approached this subject with comes through on the page - captivating and inspiring completely.
