Written years after the fact this is not a history, but an excellent memoir .
We get a brilliant descriptions of how helicopters are flown in general and in the Jungles of Vietnam in particular.
I learned more about helicopters that I've ever known before.
There is a good balance between military professionalism, anti-war sentiment and the horrors of war. Neither aspect dominates the book to a degree where you feel like there's an agenda behind the it.
