What a treat! I love the Acorn TV series, so I never got around to reading Ms. Beaton until now. Boy have I ever missed out! I gobbled this down despite holiday activities and other interruptions (lol).

So droll, so intelligent, so hilarious, just brilliantly done. Can't wait to go plowing my way through ALL of them!

I ran into The Quiche of Death by accident. (Well that's a sentence you don't say often, do you?). I was at my favorite bookshop a few months ago, and another book from the series was on display, with a small handwritten note that said that it was part of a series and that the first book was called The Quiche of Death. With such a title, I couldn't miss it - so I went to the corresponding shelf in the bookshop... only to see that said book was not there. I actually hunted it in a few other bookshops, and finally bought the Kindle version when said hunt didn't yield anything.
The story: Agatha Raisin leaves her successful PR firm and London and settles in the countryside. To get accepted by the fellow villagers, she decides to enter a quiche in a quiche contest. But the contest judge dies …
