Star Wars: Black Spire

I liked it. Now, first of all, a lot of the... oh, let's say first half is descriptions about the stuff and life of Black Spire. Many people (even me at times) would say this is basically a commercial for the area of the Disney Parks that is related. But yet, if you didn't know that, or the parks never existed, it would just seem like a very finely detailed look at the life and people on the planet and in this area of the Black Spire - like mostly any other book.

Forgetting all that though, the main point is the mission that led Vi and Cardinal to the planet is to set up a base with new recruits since as we know in Episode 8, the resistance desperately needs. But this is also a book, like so many others, that has people. And it's a look at them - Vi and Cardinal with everything they have to deal with particularly from their first book together, but then the individuals on this planet - their personalities, what they cherish, why they might not actually want a resistance around, and why they might say yes to the First Order, or say no to both. Things aren't black and white, after all.

So, this could have ended up one really big commercial for a new Disney park that they created a story around - and clearly, the seed of that is there. But fortunately, that's not where it ends. It's a nice addition to the part of the saga that is the sequels, that goes beyond the major characters and shows another part of the larger Star Wars galaxy (that, yeah, we could go visit if we were able to).
