Review of 'Maoism' on 'Goodreads'

1 star

trenchantly cosmetic treatment of maoism made up of factoids for jetsetting Oxbridge dilettantes to trot out in the comments section of a Guardian Longread or an opinion-editorial for the financial times. hardly a page goes by that we don't have a comparison of mao, maoist ideology or a follower of mao's doctrine to hitler, nazism or donald trump, and not in a manner which penetrates into the precise nature of either. lovell seems to do this in order to satiate the desire of the aforementioned dilettantes to regard today's PRC as populated by brainwashed drones who have had the temerity to attempt to punch above their weight on the international stage in the past and look set to do so again. avoid at all costs
