Review of 'Weird Scenes Inside The Canyon Laurel Canyon Covert Ops The Dark Heart Of The Hippie Dream' on 'Goodreads'

This book is kinda garbage. It aims to make a conspiracy theory about the origins of the 1960s/70s counter culture. There are lots insinuations about the deaths of various rock celebrities who lived in LA but no overall story or theory to relate them. The conspiracy that it trying to assert is that the counter culture was government sponsored: that certain bands first albums were too good based on their talent and subsequent offerings and that people who know to much were suicided or murdered. The probably true aspect was that the abundance of LSD released into the youth culture at that time was an intentional effort to pacify and control free thinkers of the generation by the government but the creation of government backed super groups seems a bit far fetched.
