i can see why it’s a classic

i enjoyed this far more than 1984, maybe because the premise is more clear and understandable. i feel like it’s also more accurate to how the world is, and it can be compared to so many different governments. very insightful and could easily make someone aware of the unfairness in their own society.

More Young Adult than I Realized

3 stars

Honestly I think I'm too old for this book. I think, for me, reading it as a young teenager probably would have been the era where I end up the most impressed. I don't think I particularly needed a lesson in safeguarding against totalitarianism, but the book is short and overly plain, making it perfect for an introduction into adult literature.

Engaging parody

“The creatures outside looked from pig to man, and from man to pig, and from pig to man again; but already it was impossible to say which was which.”

Never really got round to reading this one, while it's widely regarded a classic. Very short read and accessibly written analogy of the Russian Revolution.

Interesting thought experiment on collective memory, shares a lot of concepts with 1984.

A book that hits a little too close to home in our present day reality.

I've been meaning to read Animal Farm by George Orwell for a couple years and finally sat down and gave it the attention it deserved. Animal Farm is a book I think everyone should read at least once, because there are so many lessons in this book that are valuable and worth reflecting on as our world is rapidly changing.

My biggest message taken away from this book that I'd really like to share, is remember who you are, and don’t be afraid to stand up for truth, for freedom, and for what’s right. Speak up, even if your voice shakes, because once freedom is gone, it is not so easily regained.
